European consumer group joins European union antitrust case against Apple

BRUSSELS: The European Consumer Organization (BEUC) lobby group on Midweek backed the European Wedlock's antitrust case against Apple which alleges it distorts competition in the music streaming market.
The European Committee filed its kickoff antitrust charges against Apple in Apr post-obit an initial complaint by the iPhone maker'southward rival Spotify.
Apple has rejected the Eu charges, proverb that its App Store enabled Spotify to get the earth's largest music subscription service. It has been given 12 weeks to reply to the charges.
BEUC said it has been allowed to join as an interested third party in the antitrust regulator'due south case, which could lead to a hefty fine of every bit much every bit 10per cent of Apple'due south global turnover and strength a alter to its concern practices.
